"A rather traditional pub with a potentially lovely sun room. The food is very good, the staff are helpful and friendly and the prices are reasonable. The only distraction is the decor/ambience, especially in the sun room area, which is where we sat. It was clean, there was no doubt about that, it was comfortable no arguments there, but it felt a little in need of some minor love and attention. A couple of examples, the window blinds, you are sitting in what is, in effect, a conservatory, could do with replacing, they don't look dirty, not in the slightest, just tired. Equally the outside space, which you look out on, needs a bit of attention, broken pavings labs, that kind of thing. A few quid, a bit of time and a little imagination would work wonders. I must stress again, the food and the Service are excellent."

"Had only a pleasant bar meal. first visit since the opening. a beautiful renovation! Remember, duck or grouse for the low beams when they are big! a warm welcome from friendly staff. good food and good beer doom bar and black sheep real ale! look forward to our next visit."

"Sunday lunch has a very limited menu if roast dinner not selected Staff and till not efficient, receipt did not reflect item ordered then wrong dish served and staff not apologetic. Table was not clean. They bring the food to the table but no cutlery, fetch that yourself. The sandwich was tasty and salad was good but the bread was not fresh."

"We stopped en-route to the coast at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon to break the journey. Food ordered from the 2 for £11-49 menu arrived promptly served by a very polite waiter. The meals were hot and tasty and well worth the money. As the driver I opted for a cappuccino to drink, duly dispensed by machine, however I found this to be quite weak. Thinking about it I suppose I should’ve added a shot of espresso. If we happened to be passing again and wanted to eat we would def stop again"

"We visited the Railway this weekend, which we found on Google when asked for 'carveries near me ' we were in the area with some friends. The landlady said she could get us in when I phoned and enquired, and when we arrived a while before our booking time to have a drink, they got our table ready and we were all done with our meal before time. Impressed!! It was busy but didn 't affect the service or standard of food. Meat was perfect and the range of veg was staggering!! Nine different types. We scoffed the lot and were stuffed. It really was yummy. Wouldn definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Was a lovely dinner!! Thanks!!"
