"What a difference. We ate there about 2 years ago on a Sunday afternoon but there was not a great choice of food left. We had heard good things about the new landlady and decided to give it a try. Straight away we could tell we had made the right choice. From the warm friendly welcome to the recently updated menu, the place felt just like a pub should. We ordered a Sunday roast which was really impressive when it arrived, a chicken and ham pie which was also lovely. Our kids ordered of the children's menu but the portions were ample and their plates were clean at the end. Even when my son decided he needed a little bit of extra lettuce to make his burger perfect , his request was greeted with a smile and the lettuce arrived. The food was piping hot and tasty. The price made my pocket happy too. P/s you can download the greeneking app to get further reductions and a free first drink each! We left very happy and will definitely be returning. "Visited to eat at Lal Sher in the Red Lion on Mother’s Day. Had pre-booked but had to wait 30 mins to be seated. No one took our drinks orders. Finally was able to request some poppadoms after being sat for 30 mins and ordered starters and mains. Starters took an hour and then we had to wait a further 5 minutes for cutlery. Sauces for the starters came out as we were finishing. We were still not able to put in a drinks order so we had to go to the bar for drinks. Mains took a further 1 hour and 20 mins. In contrast to our last visit here, the food was bland and the chicken was gristly. The biryani was tasteless. We advised the staff, the meal wasn’t a great standard and it was annoying we didn’t get any table service for drinks. Keep having to leave the table to queue at a busy bar was not ideal when we were finally able to eat. During the visit, I went to the toilets and found them dirty. Full of cobwebs and unclean. The bins were over flowing and there was no hand wash. On the way back, the kitchen door was open and I looked in. On the floor was discarded food and the whole kitchen looked to be disorganised. On the way back to the table, I noted there were multiple dirty plates piled up on tables and food around tables on the floor. They clearly didn’t have enough staff to operate on a busy evening and even though people were paying to eat at the restaurants, they continued to serve takeaways who were getting served much quicker than sit in customers."

"Sat outside as dogs not allowed inside. Very difficult to get out when holding a couple of drinks as the door opens inwards and nowhere really to rest a drink. Luckily a very friendly waitress helped out. Person serving behind the bar was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Tables benches outside had leaves, bird poo and puddles on them suppose it is November! Lovely pub and atmosphere inside, just a shame no dogs inside not even in bar area."
