"Mixed nice welcome, helpful re various beers, delicious starters prawn tempura, squid and chowder) , delicious puddings but v disappointing main courses. Confit duck salad for two of us that had almost no duck and was 50% crunch noodles, prawn curry had very few prawns and little chicken in skewers"

"Good food, good service by helpful staff and nothing seems to much trouble for them. Wonderful pizzas from a real pizza oven freshly made to your choice. A decent garden for the kids to play. A decent car park that seems to be full on most days. Booking is advisable as it is a popular place to eat. When I see some reviews about The Gate, I have to wonder if some people have actually been there to eat, poor food, poor service etc. I wonder if they are trying to do a disservice to a great eating house?"

"As relatiw new in the opposite, I was introduced into the crown inn. I'm so glad it was me. the service is second to non and eating, although a limited selection, is always top quality, served as it should be and always beautiful. I was in a couple of pubs, but that beats the hands down every other pub, and so far it's my pub of choice. I'm glad to go anytime. you can not beat good service and good food."

"I have tried all the curry houses in Saffron Walden and for the first time the other day we decided to give Manzil a go. So pleased we did and can honestly say it is the best by far. The butter chicken, in particular, was excellent! :"
