"Cracking pub. visited there on a stay at herons retreat on the road. the booking is a must because it is busy. Eat place. not your usual pub dug. all fresh and very tasty. no prices on the menu, but was calculation what I expected. two surprises on the bill. king prawn starter was quite expensive at £9 but on the other hand the Spanish beer madri was a bargain at £3,80 for a pint."

"Visited with two friends. One had the Wednesday Roast Special, she said it was delicious gammon and veg perfectly cooked, followed by lovely piping hot apple crumble custard the other had Jacket Potatoe with Coronation Chicken and salad garnish she also said it was delicious and very filling and she couldn't manage her slice of millionaire shortbread. I had soup and half a sandwich followed by a cream Swiss finger cake. I loved it and it was perfect for my lunch. As knitters, crafters and makers, a visit to Abakhan is our perfect day out with great food on- site."

"Popped in for a pint great welcome from barmaid. Good selection of beers and wines. Good atmosphere got talking to the regulars. My pint was great and looking at the drop on the other pints looks like they look after their lines."

"We hadn't made a reservation, we'd walked over from a nearby village. At the bar we tried to order food and were told they couldn't take food orders as they had a large table coming in in half an hour. We asked if we could order light things that would be cooked before the table arrived? The girl serving us went to say yes but looked at the grumpy man also serving behind the bar and changed her mind. Apparently there were other tables in the restaurant that were eating? We could order food but there would be an hour's wait. Meanwhile another family ordered chips. We asked if there would be an hour's wait for chips? There wasn't. Which sort of emphasised my point about ordering quick things that wouldn't take long to cook? We asked to order chips and cheese? Grumpy man tells girl serving behind the bar (ignoring us) that they have run out of cheese. Our chips come to our outside table, brought by grumpy man who informed us there were ketchup, vinegar and cutlery by the bar but he can't bring them to us as he has to change a barrel. Finished our chips with one drink each and left. Maybe grumpy man was having a bad day, we're all human. He did seem to want to turn away business though."

"Took a slight detour on our way to Anglesey to visit the Ship for lunch. It was certainly worth it. Food was very good, as has been said already super chips and all reasonably priced. Dogs are welcome in the bar.."
