"Imaginative and thoughtful cuisine which falls just short of being top level but which is still well worth trying. Sadly, we felt that there was too much use of the water bath in preparing some of the dishes, resulting in textures being less than optimal in, for example, the Guinea fowl but that is the case in many restaurants these days and the food, overall, was good to very good. Presentation was exceptional. Service top notch. The wine list is a joy and the sommelier knowledgeable; plenty of treasures to discover. All in all, a very pleasant experience and fairly priced. One final note: there were lots of ‘before the meal’ dishes and many ‘in between’; how many of these was necessary is arguable."

"Chez Woody is close to another restaurant, frequented by my daughter and son in law, who live on the outskirts of Vannes. We come to stay often, and booked at Chez Woody for a family evening out grandparents, parents, and grandsons (20, 17 and 12). We felt the ambience was good, and the decor excellent. A romantic evening, or a family celebration, would find the surroundings and atmosphere convivial. The staff were friendly, and service prompt, whilst unhurried. My beer was good, as were the other drinks. The starters were a success, and my mussels (stuffed with delicious herbs) were wonderful. The main course was a very mixed affair. My undercooked (sorry, I’m English, but did ask for medium/well done) entrecôte steak had a substantial amount of fat and gristle, and my grandson’s fillet steak was over cooked, and tiny. My daughter, who rarely speaks ill of anyone or anything, felt her fish was the cause of stomach ache during the night. But wait two grandsons had burgers, and they were excellent, and greatly enjoyed. Likewise, the sundaes that some had for dessert. A mixed evening, and I doubt the family will repeat it, especially as there is that other place close by."
