"We've been here each Sunday for the past month because of a nearby course.The food is truly excellent but the service is mesmerisingly slow!This morning we watched as three of the waitstaff stood talking to each other rather than take or deliver orders.I'm assuming that this is a family business because if they weren't related to the owner, surely they would have been fired by now!!"

"Tonight we tried the popular chain PappaRich for a weeknight dinner date. We indulged in a few starter plates and then progressed through to mains with a crisp glass of Sav Blanc and an ice cold Ribena Lychee drink. <br/ <br/ The service here was friendly, but not over the top and the waiters left you alone to make your choice without standing over your shoulder waiting for you. It has a great system of writing down what menu items you would like and then ringing the buzzer to alert wait staff that you are ready to order. <br/ <br/ The food came out quickly and was quite tasty. Being left satisfied with both the quantity and quality of the Malaysian food provided. <br/ <br/ We will return. 4/5 stars."

"Was disappointed by the food, certainly not up to the previous standards. we ordered three different dishes, all came with the same generic green leaf salad, all were listed on the menu as with many additional ingredients and dressings that were omitted. prawns were. tasty, deep fried chicken was dry, calamari was ok. they don't think we're not going back."

"The bagels are great, especially the gluten free option. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Coffee was always very good, some of the best I have had in the Carina, Cannon Hill, Camp Hill and Carindale areas. Great with pets with water bowls for your fury friends. Highly recommended!"

"Our first experience with Max was many years ago in Double Bay... it was always a treat. The group expanded and there are now a few in Brisbane that we have visited. Each experience was worth the effort until recently.They have dropped the ball considerably at Carindale. There are many eating options in this shopping centre so nothing short of excellence is acceptable. Whilst our coffees were good, we were most disappointed to find :1 : 10% surcharge for weekends.......!!!! (we were there Sunday 27th Nov 1200 hrs) clearly a money grab in this day and age. The staff directed me to a sign behind the counter; Public Holidays I can understand.....I cant think of one other establishment that charges this. I was about to cancel the order and go elsewhere, but thought what the heck.... Max is always good.2 : Décor - is very tired. There are padded seats along the internal wall. They would have looked nice a while ago. Now the vinyl is torn and tattered and an ugly eyesore.3 : on sitting down, I lifted the chair to pull it into the table as I sat.... OUCH!! the seat padding lifted and I proceeded to jam the seat onto my finger... blood blister under the nail, very sore!! I advised the staff of the issue.4 : My wife commented she had been there recently and the place was half full, but every free table had dirty dishes on them. She said they actually left with her friend and went elsewhere after standing and looking around for a while. This day there was one table with dishes on it and we waited to see how long it would take to clear them (they were not very busy) the staff members brought out food for tables and proceeded to head straight past the table, back to the kitchen. After about 5 minutes, the table was cleared. In isolation this is not a major issue, but after my wife's previous experience, you tend to note these things, its not a pleasant look.The staff were pleasant and would think that there are some training or manning issues here. There were 2 staff members at the chocolate area who seemed to be chatting for most of our stay; so you don't get a feeling that 'teamwork' is flavour of the day.I would think that Max would be pretty unhappy with this establishment. We will not be back as there are plenty of other great eating/coffee options in the precinct."

"When the store was first opened, I refused to go in just because they were serving all the coffee with paper cup only. I hated it. The feeling of sipping on the coffee cup are enforced to be eliminated. Until lately on one day that I went into this shop for a business meeting and I discovered that they serve coffee not in the paper cup if the dine-in customer requests about it. Hurray! "You do attract me to enter your door now!""
