"Food is delicious, but...I don't recommend it. We came to the restaurant and the waiter was...strange. Firstly, he was persuading us to take a starter, although we didn't want. We just came here for a supper and that was all. He recommended to us only the most expensive dishes. After the dish, he came with the menu fo deserts, but we SAID TO HIM that we hadn't wanted to have a desert. Then, he told us that he would give us a desert (of course, the most expensive) and if we didn't like it, then we wouldn't have to pay for it...Of course, we had to pay for that because of being polite. But I don't recommend, because the waiter was just uncultural and that's not how it should have looked like."

"I received a walm welcome here as a solo foreign tourist arriving before the kitchen opened. They let me keep my bicycle right inside the restaurant! Try the Iberian pork. Best wine I've had in Portugal. Very nice ambiance. Thank you."

"We had lunch at this restaurant last year and it was very good, however this year there were numerous issues for the party of 6 that came along. The biggest issue was the tomahawk steak. Getting good quality beef in Portugal is often a challenge and in Beira Baixa the only place I have found that never fails is “O Beiral” in Fundão. The cut and preparation of the meat was lower than what would normally used for tomahawk, however it was also presented raw (sealed meat left raw inside is not medium rare) and hacked into chunks rather than the classic presentation of slicing off the bone (as depicted in the illustration in the menu). Simply put, the chef does not know how to cook steak well, and is well out of his/her depth with something like a tomahawk. It takes longer to prepare such a large piece (it weighed about 1.2kg according to the bill), so others received their fish early which would of ended up cold if they waited for the steaks to arrive, but even then the time from order to delivery of raw steak suggests it was still in the fridge when ordered. Another person ordered the house steak, also presented raw and similarly had to be returned to the kitchen. The returned tomahawk on the second attempt was still largely raw, but some of the chunks were now rare rib-eye (maybe), so were eaten to get the journey over and done with; overall an unpleasant experience. The apology was trite and no attempt was made to satisfy further. The wait staff were disorganised as well. The desserts were however quite good. In summary, if you attend this restaurant I suggest you order the fish."
