"I used to love this place, but the new owners have done very strange things to it. The menu is weak and frankly trying too hard. I've tried it twice. The first time my meal was mediocre at best. The last time I ordered a dessert that sounded interesting, but in the end was... frankly gross. The name was clever, but when it arrived it was ice-cream on a stick with a dry wasabi coating topped by slightly burned toasted popcorn...or something like that. I travel A LOT and have eaten many crazy things all over the world that others may deem 'unusual' or 'no go' worthy, but this...ick. When I mentioned it wasn't good to my server, she couldn't have cared less and even made a comment that made me feel as though she felt I was obviously uncultured. When I ordered something else, she was clear that I would still have to pay for the uneaten dessert. In the end, I didn't pay for the bill and I have no idea if we were charged, but it doesn't matter - if a server is so poorly trained that she can't handle the most basic of complaints with diplomacy or grace, then she is in the wrong job. That said, if a chef can screw up an ice-cream bar...lol. No matter how great the music is - I doubt I will go back for a very long time. I would need to hear they have a new chef and new management first."

"Stillwell is the go-to spot for craft beer in Halifax for good reason! Twelve revolving taps and three beer engines allow the beer lover to try a fantastic selection of beers, and even a craft cider or two. While there, we worked our way through everything in either the great four beer flights or occasional sleeves. The beer-savvy staff will not serve a cask if it's not up to their standards - I saw a freshly tapped cask replaced by another before it reached a single customer!Although the only food we tried was the excellent dill pickle popcorn (!!!), the very well-priced and thoughtful menu warrants a return visit, especially after seeing the food served up to others around us. This place is really something special for any beer lover!"

"I went to Barrington Steakhouse for dinner last week and it was AMAZING! Excellent, very attentive service and a wonderful meal. The live entertainment in the bar is a really nice touch. I stayed for an extra drink just to enjoy the music and the bar atmosphere! Highly recommend Barrington for a nice evening out in the city."
