"Invited down from the city we arrived reluctantly to a large family gathering. We went as a family of 5 to join the table of 17 set up near the fire which was a gorgeous touch amidst the trees and outside on the lawns and gardens. We had heard nothing on the place at all so were delighted at the magical Sunday arvo atmosphere which was enhanced by the mellow live music, wonderful food and good service provided by a team of country hearted staff who got the job done whilst or littlies ran amuck out in the paddocks nearby."

"Over priced compared to other unique fine dining experiences in SA.. Having to pay reservation fee not expected at many other SA more exceptional dining experiences. Service was not as good as expected. Some of the extra costs etc on the menu were not explained. Think you can find better value for money."

"Hard to fault. Had a great lunch there. Sunday only seasonal tasting (degustation) menu available so be prepared to spend the day. Staff very knowledgeable, polite and efficient. Food, amazing!!! Will definitely go back to try the spring menu. Suggest Monte goes to a VEGETARIAN restaurant if that is what you want to eat. For me, it was hard to fault and incredible value for money."

"An exceptional fine dining experience from beginning to end. Hats off to the chefs for taste, quality ingredients and specifically the presentation. We also opted for the wine pairing with our degustation. The wine pairings went well with our meals, however we would’ve loved to learn more about the history and tasting notes. Unfortunately due to restrictions being implemented the night before our visit and not to cancel guests bookings, all seatings were reduced to 2 hours with a reduced menu. As a result, we were more tipsy than full by the end of the meal but understandably, Maxwell did what they could given the circumstances. We definitely are keen to go back for the full experience."
