"Been going here for nearly a year as my office is across the road. Staff are always lovely and friendly and now know me by name. The food is absolutely fantastic and the coffee is always made just right. Highly recommend the croque monsiuer for breakfast or a traditional ham and cheese croissant. I have even picked up some french with the owner speaking to me and teaching me each time I go there it's great!"

"French Fantasies have the best french toasts! I ordered mine with a side of chipolata sausages. The french toasts were thick rectangular blocks of white bread, perfectly golden on each side, sprinkle with sugar."

"I like to say positive things about restaurants if at all possible, but there was much to complain about when we visited this small French-stye restaurant on busy Lygon Street. The service was absolutely appalling. Our order was taken shortly after we took up our booking, at 7:00pm. The glass of wine included on our Deals.com.au voucher was brought to the table, our order taken, and bread supplied before 7:20pm. A good start.Then we waited. We waited and waited! At 8pm my partner asked the waitress if our entree would come soon. "Of course it will come," was her reply. So we ordered another glass of wine (not included) and she brought us a white instead of the red we had specified!A young couple at the next table had come into the restaurant after us. They received both entree and main before we even had the first course brought to us. They could see we were agitated and told another waitress to please serve us! Ar last our entrees arrived - at 8:25 pm!!!Then another long wait for the mains. Yes, the small restaurant was full. And most diners arrived between 7 and 7:30, so the kitchen would have been busy. But we suspect our order had been 'lost'. The food itself? My lamb entree, two tiny cutlets that had been grossly overcooked, served on rocket, was very ordinary, as were my partner's meatballs. The squid-ink pasta for my main was delicate and flavourful, but there were only three prawns and four slices of calamari on top. The other main was a 'fillet steak' sauce on pasta - ok, but not memorable. Prices on the menu were approximately $15 an entree and $28 to $35 a main. Serves were very small, so the meals were not good value.Had we not pre-paid we would have left after waiting for over an hour. Needless to say we did not tip, and we will not be back!"

"My favourite cafe in Richmond! I go here at least once a week. Excellent hot and cold snacks. Favourites are the quiche (tried all four, the Lorraine is my favourite) and pies and sausage rolls. Of the cold snacks, I love the apple slice and the cheesecake. My wife says the Portuguese tarts are excellent also. The croissants are excellent and when in season the hot cross buns are top quality and reasonable price. I am told they cook everything daily and that seems to make sense. The ambiance is friendly rather than pretentious which is refreshing."

"The sweet and savoury crepes here are a delight! I had the chocolate praline and the beef sausage with mushrooms. Both were so damn delicious. I'm definitely going back again!"

"Visited this lovely cafe in a relaxing weekend afternoon. The keepers were friendly and greeted us with big smiles. Crepes were light and airy, as for their content, well, I guess nothing can go wrong with nutella right? :p"

"To all those confused by the mismatch of the name and the style of cuisine: France occupied Vietnam from 1880s to around 1960s. A lasting influence of the French occupation is the Binh Mi with french style baguette. Now, history lesson over, I am meh over this place. Food is good but not better (or worse) in comparison to other pho places around that area. Service can be slow, and the last time I was there, the water bottles looked unclean."
